Associate Solicitor / Litigation Assistant / FILEX job in London Your new company This market leading international specialist law firm has practices across the UK and Europe, Asia Pacific, the Americas and the Middle East. The firm's lawyers provide a range of legal services for many industries including: insurance and reinsurance, dispute resolution and litigation, aviation, construction, healthcare, maritime and international trade, public sector, retail, transport and logistics and travel. Your new role The firm's Travel team are looking to recruit a Defendant Litigation Solicitor/FILEX to assist Senior Solicitors and Partners run a high value caseload, including pre-litigation and litigated claims. The Travel team advises on all types of defendant work, including advising clients on employer's liability, public liability, motor liability and travel litigation. You will be advising large composite insurers, travel companies, tour operators, hoteliers, employer's/public/motor liability insurers and large corporate clients. This is an exciting opportunity to join a law firm leading the legal market in this field. What you'll need to succeed You will need strong academics (2.1 or higher degree) or equivalent. The firm are seeking LPC graduates, FILEX qualified or studying towards ILEX qualification or UK Qualified Solicitors with 1-2+ years post qualification defendant litigation experience, preferably within personal injury. High calibre post qualification experience in personal injury working on both small-track and fast-track claims is preferred, as is the ability to run your own caseload under supervision and assist seniors with large scale casework in a team environment. Strong technical ability, previous client contact and attendance at business development events is desirable. You will need to be able to give and take instruction, apply a forensic approach, and deliver commercially pragmatic solutions. You will need to be proactive and take initiative, with strong communication skills both verbal and written, be able to manage your own time, demonstrate excellent organisation skills and strong technical and research skills. A flexible attitude towards working practices and an ability to adapt style as required for supervision purposes are a prerequisite. You should be confident in your own abilities and in your approach, a solid team player, approachable and responsive to both colleagues and clients, self-motivated and enthusiastic.
