Clinical Fellow – General Medicine Department Fixed Term – 6 Months Location: Carmarthenshire, Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli Salary: £30,302 - £40,090 plus banding supplement for EWTD fully compliant rota You are invited to apply for a position as a Clinical Fellow in the General Medicine Department in Prince Philip Hospital. These posts provide you with teaching and training mirrored by trainees, with high success rates to then be successful in training recruitment rotations, if this is what you are looking for. We are able to provide you with excellent teaching and training, with a robust induction into the NHS processes and procedures. There is also a fully functional Clinical Skills laboratory on some of our sites to improve and enhance your skills. Full GMC registration, completion Foundation Programme Year 1&2 or equivalent is essential. The successful candidate will form part of a clinical team working closely with other members in the specialty. The post offers excellent opportunities to gain valuable experience in busy and supportive departments with friendly and welcoming colleagues. There may be an opportunity to rotate into different specialties within the 4 sites to gain additional training. You will join colleagues in a very dynamic and forward thinking service. We have a busy, modern and well-equipped hospital which opened in 1990. There are approx. 225 acute and elective inpatient beds, supporting Acute and Elective General Medicine and Elective General Surgery, Orthopaedics, and Urology. The hospital provides surgical day case theatres, endoscopic suite, Radiology and Laboratory support and palliative care facilities, including a new hospice facility. It also provides for a range of specialist outpatient clinics including Haematology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Elderly Care, Endocrinology, Sleep medicine, Rheumatology, ENT, General Surgery, TIA clinics. It is also the site of a new Breast Unit and Rapid Access Lung cancer clinic. Professor Keir Lewis has been recently appointed as the Chair of Respiratory Medicine in Hywel Dda with further appointments to be made in the future in which will significantly increase the already very active research portfolio within the health board. Overseas applicants should demonstrate a breadth and depth of experience comparable to that obtainable in the UK. Previous NHS Experience is desirable, but not essential. The Postgraduate Department has a fully developed programme of guest lectures, lunchtime and afternoon meetings, including special interest groups and co-ordinated intra-practice activities and career counselling. The library offers a wide ranging book collection, with interlibrary lending network
