DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO SUPPORT US? We are looking to recruit a Night Support Worker at our service in Brough to cover Saturday and Sunday nights from 9.00pm until 7.00am every week. The tenants at the service were asked what they would like a support worker to help them with. This is what they have said: ‘We are looking for someone who can support us with our personal care, we would like someone who is nice and kind and who can make us laugh and has a good sense of humour, we would like someone who can talk to us when we feel sad to help us to feel better. We would like someone who can teach us how to clean, cook and look after our apartments. We would like someone who can take us places in our cars. We would also like someone with new ideas for things we can do and things we can learn’. Individual tenants have differing needs and some of the activities that they have requested a support worker is able to do are: support with swimming and aqua fit, to ride a bicycle, to travel on a bus, to be able to join in when we are singing and dancing and to be able to provide support to go to the cinema or to the theatre. The service is a complex with 10 individual flats for nine ladies and one gentleman, all of whom require support to enable them to live a full and active life, a life where they can develop their independent living skills.
