Job Description: We have an urgent requirement for a Principal Product Change Engineer to develop and implement an industry leading process and capability for product change management across the project lifecycle. You will play a pivotal role in the development, deployment and 'policing' of product change management policy and toolsets commensurate with the lifecycle phase of the programme, to ensure a fit for purpose solution and service is being delivered to the project team. Purpose of Role: Co-ordinate and implement the GCS-A Configuration through life Configuration and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, policies and supporting toolset. Assist in the development, deployment and 'policing' of configuration business rules commensurate with each lifecycle phase. Contribute in the co-ordination of product and process measurement, to ensure a fit for purpose solution and service is being delivered to the project team. Take the lead in analysing local business process to develop procedures, Information Management Technology solutions (in the form of requirement specifications) & training that ensure the overall configuration of product information is maintained. In configuration management terms this includes involvement in Planning & Management, Identification & Breakdown, Change Control (in partnership with the Product Change Manager), Status Accounting, Verification & Audit, and preparation of Engineering Baselines - all within the bounds of the PLM system. Technical Skills: Experience/knowledge of the key toolsets used across the project to implement Configuration/PLM particularly PTC's Windchill, SENER's FORAN and AVEVA ERM. Experienced in Configuration Management theory, discipline and delivery on complex product development programmes. Strong understanding of data and information management principles, including an ability to apply them pragmatically. Ability to challenge and change the status quo (where appropriate) through incremental change. Behavioural Skills: Ability to develop effective partnerships with a variety of stakeholders, not all of whom will be SMEs. Flexible approach to the achieving outcomes required; project work will need to be broken down into scoped subtasks, thereafter appropriately prioritised and managed to a conclusion - often autonomously. Company/Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of complex engineering product development lifecycles Good understanding of enterprise IT systems and applications used to design, build and support large scale products / programmes Good understanding of the data generated for use by large scale programmes and the tools and techniques used to create it. Understanding of the role of configuration management in business performance on modern IT-supported product development programmes. Major Tasks and Activities: GCS-A Configuration and PLM: Assist in the overall co-ordination of the GCS-A Config/PLM system. Co-ordinate implementation of appropriate business rules and controls for each phase of the product lifecycle and ensure required level of reporting is delivered for Config/ PLM stakeholders GCS-A Through Life Data Management: Contribute to the execution of data management for the project through life, interfacing with stakeholders including the IM&T function. With specific emphasis on digital transfer of data. Preparation and maintenance of GCS-A Configuration and PLM documentation. In particular the Product Configuration Management Plan (GCS-A PCMP) GCS-A Change Management Contribute to the development of a fit for purpose Change process. Outputs/Deliverables: Lead the successful implementation of Configuration and PLM processes and controls, through targeted development activity with IM&T. Actively assure compliance of programme with the project PLM and configuration strategies.
