Role Profile North Ayrshire Council is creating temporary positions within our Skills For Life programme.
The programme is funded through European Social Fund and aims to support unemployed lone parents in receipt of benefits
of North Ayrshire to gain training, skills and experience within council services through a 26 week paid employment programme. All candidates will be mentored throughout the process. Positions are available across the following services: * Facilities Management - Catering, Cleaning & Janitorial * Contact Centre - Customer Service Adviser * Health & Social Care Partnership - Care at Home Assistants ELIGIBILITY In order to apply, you must be: * Unemployed * In receipt of benefits * Lone Parent * North Ayrshire Resident All jobs are paid at National Minimum Wage dependent on age. The rates from 1 April 2017 are: * £7.50 per hour - 25 yrs old and over * £7.05 per hour - 21-24 yrs old * £5.60 per hour - 18-20 yrs old * £4.05 per hour - 16-17 yrs old SUPPORT All jobs will be up to 26 weeks
for between 16 – 37 hrs per week. (Dependant of applicant's needs)
North Ayrshire Council will hold an information session which ALL APPLICANTS must attend on the 24th October 2017 at 10.00 am in the Volunteer Rooms, Irvine.

When applying you will be asked if you can attend the information session by stating yes or no. If you say no, your application will not be taken to the next stage of recruitment. If you do attend the information session, times will be allocated to you for the interview stage. Interviews will take place on 25th, 26th & 27th October 2017 at Ceis Ayrshire office, Stevenston Library.

Times will be allocated at the Information Session.

All successful applicants will be notified by close of business on the 27th October 2017.
When attending the interview, under Asylum & Immigration Act and PVG Disclosure, you will be required to bring 3 pieces of ID documents. One of
these documents must be photographic and at least one must contain your current address. Examples of valid documents are Passport, Driving Licence, Birth/Marriage certificate, Utility Bill, NI Number. Further guidance will be given at the Information Session. BENEFITS As part of Skills For Life programme, there will be a mandatory 6 week training period prior to employment in which you will continue to receive your current benefit, travelling expenses and childcare costs (if required) If the post requires working with children or vulnerable adults, successful applicants will be expected to complete a PVG application before commencing the programme. The following qualifications will be achieved throughout the 6 week training period. 4 SQA Core Skill Units: * Prepare for Employment * Building Own Employability * Responsibilities of Employment * Skills for Customer Care * ICT * PC Passport Advice & Guidance consultation: * Financial Management * Childcare * Tax Credits * Better Off Calculations * Literacy Support In Work Support: * Part Uniform included (if applicable) * Mentor support throughout the 26 weeks placement * Transitional Employment Support (Mandatory) - 0.5 days per week for all participants, throughout the 26 weeks to include job search, assistance with applications, uploading CV's and interview techniques.
